There’s a plan in the works to make this site much more user-friendly and accessible. The latest update is the first step in preparing for this change. The most noticeable change (besides the fact that everything LOOKS different!) is that the site is much “lighter” and quicker to load. Hopefully this makes it accessible to even more people. You should still be able to get to anything that was on the old site, though links may be moving around in the near future.
