Coming Up for Christmas at HVCC

Celebrate Christmas at The Valley with special dramas, a holiday prayer gathering, and a special Christmas Eve service.

HVCC Joins Together in Prayer Around the Holidays

On Friday, December 14, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., you’re invited to join one of several groups of people meeting in homes in the area for a time of prayer and fellowship. We’ll be praying for:

  • Our Christmas basket kindness effort and those who will be touched by this effort
  • Families with soldiers overseas during the holiday season
  • Families and individuals in our community who are lonely or depressed during the holidays, that they would find HVCC as a welcoming place during the season
  • Our Christmas worship services – that they would have great impact in our community to reach out to those who are far from God, and those who need encouragement this time of year

You don’t have to pray aloud at these meetings to participate. Group prayer will be followed with dessert, coffee, and fellowship. To sign up, e-mail the church office at hvcc@hiddenv.com, or sign up at the information desk in the front lobby this Sunday.

Christmas Services at HVCC
On the two Sundays before Christmas, HVCC will feature Christmas dramas in celebration of this special time of year. This is a great opportunity to invite family and friends to enjoy these special dramas.

December 16: Here With Us during regular worship time
December 23: Joseph during regular worship time

We will also feature a special Christmas Eve service at 6:00 p.m. on December 24 with music and a children’s dramatic production featuring kids and teens. This will be a special time of worship and celebration, and we encourage you to invite family, friends, and neighbors to join us that evening.

New Parking Lot Ready for Use

The grading work on our new parking lot extension is finished. It is currently surfaced with gravel. We are encouraged to use the new space to help pack it down over the winter. So if you’re a regular HVCC attender, why not park a few rows farther out on our new space? You’ll be helping to prepare the site for paving in the future, and you’ll leave more space near the building for new attenders and guests.

Still Working Toward a 100-Basket Goal!

Two weeks left in our Christmas Kindness Basket Blowout! If you haven’t done so already, don’t forget to take one or more paper ornaments from the tree in the church lobby. Then buy the personal or household items that are listed on the ornaments and bring them to church. They will be gathered into baskets and distributed to people in Iowa County who need our help. Also, if you would like to help to assemble or deliver the baskets, write Christmas Baskets on the tear-off portion of your bulletin this Sunday.

HVCC Benevolence Ministry Makes a Real Difference

As Christmas approaches, remember our HVCC Benevolence ministry. The Benevolence fund is not a part of the church operating budget; rather, gifts to this fund go into a separate account that is used only to help people in need. When Cherie Rudesill sends out a message about someone who needs help, all of your gifts are used for that purpose.

Here is a testimony from just one of the many people whose lives were touched by Christ working through your gifts to the Benevolence fund:

We had only been attending Hidden Valley for less than a year and our family was presented with some very difficult times . . . We were at a point where we didn’t know what to do. I asked the church for some help. Thank God for the Benevolence fund. Through this fund we were able to get the help we needed. Since that time things have improved for our family and we have been blessed to be able to return the help with donations to the Benevolence fund for others in need.

Your Amazon.com Purchases Can Help Those in Need

Remember that you can do your Christmas shopping and help people through HVCC’s Benevolence ministry – at the same time! When you purchase from Amazon.com by clicking a link from the HVCC web site, a portion of the purchase price is sent to our church. Visit our website at hiddenv.com, and look for the Amazon links. Or start your Amazon shopping from our E-Store and anything you order will benefit the Benevolence ministry.
